The Ring of Kerry
Ireland

July 5-7 2002

This is late in the evening of the 5th of July. We both flew in that day, but on seperate flights (seems to always be that way). Then we rented a car and off we went.

This is the Irish Sunset at 90mph.

More of the Irish sunset.

Once again more of the sunset. It was probably around 10pm or later. The sunset was quite pretty and we were getting tired.

This is the next day. We finally made it to the Ring of Kerry in south west Ireland. It took about 6 hours driving after an hour flight, but the landscape is great.

More views in the Ring of Kerry.

Once again.

Here is the first big thing to see on the Ring (when heading in a clockwise direction).

This is the view across from the waterfall. It is obviously very humid. Look at all the moss.

Here is a view of the waterfall a little further up the path. The bugs were a little obnoxious.

Here we are in front of the waterfall.

This is a view from Ladies' View. Supposedly the Queen's Ladies in Waiting thought the view was so pretty, that someone built a restaraunt here and named it Ladies' View.

More of Ladies' View.

There was a bit of a problem with the sheep getting in the road.

A Fortress. I will have to look up the name. It was a bit of a detour on a dirt road. We were pressed for time, so we had to hurry!

Sheep at the fortress.

Monastery built by Saint Kevin the Healer. This is just south of Dublin after we got off the Ring. It is in the Wicklow Mountains.

The Graveyard at the Monastery.

More old tombstones at the Monastery.

Near the Monastery are 2 lakes: Upper and Lower Lakes. This is the waterfall leading into the Upper Lake.
